Services for John Edgar Gwin, prominent Delta planter and landowner who died in the Greenwood hospital, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 were held in the Methodist church, Tchula by the Rev. Scott of Itta Bena, assisted by the Rev. H. H. Wallace, local pastor. Burial was in the Lexington cemetery with Southern Funeral home in charge.

Mr. Gwin, the son of Capt. and Mrs. Sam Gwin, pioneer settlers of Holmes county, was born February 21, 1876, and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Board of Stewards.

He was well known for his many contributions to worthy causes.

He married Miss Malie Wyatt to which union were born two sons, Frank Wyatt Gwin and Sam.

After the death of his wife, he married Miss Estelle Merchant of Kosciusko who survives him.

Other survivors are his son, Frank; two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Hutton, of Jackson, Mrs. Vick Robbins of Vicksburg, and one brother, Walter Gwin of Greenwood, and four grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Sam Hutton, Gilliam Gwin, Edgar Gwin, Byron Sharpe, Tom James, and Walter Gwin.
