Obituary
Mike Lammons
Benjamin Michael Lammons passed away April 9th at the University Hospital of Holmes County after an extended illness. Mike was born on January 31, 1918, in Monroe, LA, to Thomas A. Lammons and Minnie Wilson Lammons. He moved to Lexington in 1930. During World War II, he served in the Army and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his service in the Army he founded Lammons Jewelry, dedicating it to God. He was a lifetime member of the Mississippi Jewelers Association and served as president in 1972-73. He was also a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.
Mike was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington where he worked with the Royal Ambassadors, taught Sunday School, served as Training Union Director and as a deacon.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, the former Helen Lupo, his daughters, Karen Carter of Birmingham, AL, and Nancy King (Allan) of Oxford and his son, Richard Lammons, (Joann) of Houston, TX, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, with interment following at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 237, Lexington, MS 39095 or the charity of your choice.
