Obituary

J.R. Lipsey
Funeral services for John Robert Lipsey, 74, were held Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. from Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverent Howard Allen officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Lipsey died in a Vicksburg Hospital Wednesday following a lengthy illness. He was the son of Lillie Pollard and Edward Lipsey. A longtime resident of Holmes County, he was a retired manager of Holmes County Co-Op, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank C. Ford, Vicksburg; three sons, Lt. Col. Edward G. Lipsey, Adand,Turkey; John T. Lipsey, Jackson; William L. Lipsey, Southhaven; four sisters, Mrs. Nina Owens, Foxworth; Mrs. Louise Warnack, Brookhaven; Mrs. Ethel Wheery, Brookhaven; one brother, Louis Lipsey, Pickens; and twelve grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ray Johnson, Mills Martin, R.S. Richmond, Bob Gilfoy, Ed Tye Nielson and Preston Martin.
