Lizzie Maud Tidwell Shipp

Funeral services for Lizzie Maude Tidwell Shipp, 80, of Greenwood were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30 from Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Lorance Frost officiating. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mrs. Shipp, a resident of Golden Care Nursing Home I Greenwood and a native of Holmes County, died at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Thursday, January 29. She was a retired homemaker and a Methodist. She had lived in Lexington until moving to Greenwood in 1978.

Survivors include three daughters – Mrs. Sadie Yong and Mrs. Janeice Sterling, both of Greenwood, and Mrs. Kate Fisher of Drews; two brothers – Pepper Tidwell and Bob Tidwell, both of Lexington; three sisters – Mrs. Ethel Frost and Mrs. Fanny Cothran, both of Lexington, and Mrs. Doris Smith of Thomasville, Georgia; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons – Bubba Sterling, Wes Sterling, Phil Sterling, Jr., Marvin Sterling, Fulton Young, Jr. and Bobby Fisher, Jr.
