Obituary
Lucile G.Tarpley

Lucile G. Tarpley, 94, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Ridgeland Hospice Ministries, in Ridgeland, MS.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 9:30 am at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Madison, MS with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am in the Church Sanctuary, conducted by Rev. Brian Wright. A graveside service will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington, MS at 2:00 pm.

Mrs. Lucile was a long-time resident of Lexington, MS and Holmes County. She graduated from Cruger Consolidated High School in May 1933. She was Secretary and Accountant for Mr. W. B. Kenna, Executive Director of the Mississippi High School Activities Association until it moved from Lexington to Jackson, MS. She then became the Secretary and Accountant for Mr. L. R. Thompson, Holmes County Superintendent of Education until her retirement. Later on in her retirement, she spent many happy years at The Home Place in Madison, MS.

She was born October 30,1915 to Henry Houston and Sadie (Acy) Lehman in Black Hawk, MS.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred A. Tarpley; and two sisters Hattie Maude Farmer and Hilda Cook.

Mrs. Tarpley is survived by her son, Rev. Joe BA Chapman, Jr. (Dixie) of Jackson, MS; her sister Mrs. Beulah Mae Galey of Black Hawk, MS; three step-sons, Fred A. Tarpley, Jr. (Carolyn) of Annandale, VA, John Tarpley (Margret) of Nashville, TN and Joe Tarpley (Beverly) of Madison. MS; four grandchildren: several great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
