Lydia Ann Davis

Lydia Ann Patterson Davis, 59, of Moss Point, died at her home on February 7. Born February 16, 1932 in Lexington, Mrs. Davis recently retired from a position as school teacher at Moss Point High School.

During her years at MPHS, Mrs. Davis was a cheerleader instructor, coached the Moss Point High School Bowl team and assisted with the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club.

A member of Dantzler Memorial First United Methodist Church of Moss Point, she attended Millsaps College and received her bachelor of science degree in Social Studies and Education from the Mississippi College for Women. She continued her education at University of Mississippi, "Ole Miss" where she received her master's degree in Business Education,

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Davis, of Moss Point; her parents, Annie Margaret and George S. Patterson, of Biloxi; one daughter, Roberta Ann Hudson, of Moss Point: one son, Roger P. Davis, of Schiller Park, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Weathersby of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Thomas Matthew and Robert Curtis Harrison, both of Moss Point.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. at Dantzler Memorial First United Methodist Church with the Rev. H. J. Hedgepeth officiating.

Graveside services were held Thursday, February 13 at 2 p.m. in Lexington at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Charles Johnson of Trinity Retirement Complex in Columbus presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be donated to the charity of choice or the Moss Point FBLA chapter, Moss Point High School, Attn. Edith Youngblood, 4924 Church Street, Moss Point, MS 39563.
