Obituary

Marion Standifer Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Marion Standifer Johnson, 67, were held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3 at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington.  The Rev. Howard Allen was officiating minister.  Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died on Sunday, July 1 at Ochsners Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.

A native of Leflore County, she had made her home in Lexington for many years.  In addition to being a homemaker, she was active in Lexington with her husband in the insurance business.  She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.  She had traveled all over the USA, Canada, Hawaii, China, Europe, and Spain.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

Survivors include her husband, Ray E. Johnson of Lexington; a daughter Leath Johnson of Jackson; and a brother John S. Standifer or Greenwood.

Active pallbearers were John Standifer, Jr., Tully Webb, Robert Webb, Luther Wade, Ellett Lawrence, David Reed, Ed Thurmond, Ken McDougal.

Honorary pallbearers were Will Webb Pat Barrett Sr., Charles Campbell, John Kimbrough, John Stewart Watson, Henri Watson, Jr., and Allen Murtagh.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Lexington.
