Obituary
Mrs. S. L. Burwell

Mrs. Stephen L. Burwell, 89, of Jackson died Saturday morning at St. Dominic Hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson with the Reverend Francis K. Bussell and the Reverend Douglas Sterling officiating.

Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Mrs. Burwell was the former Mary Keirn Dyer, a native of Lexington. She had lived in Jackson since 1932 and was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral.

Her husband, Stephen L. Burwell, and three sons, Stephen Burwell, Jr., William B. Burwell and James D. Burwell preceded her in death.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Dyer Birdsong, two sons, John L. Burwell and Brooke B. Burwell; sixteen grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of Jackson.
