Obituary

MRS H. H. JOHNSON

Mrs. Henry Herbert Johnson, of Lexington, 85, died Thursday morning at the Holmes County Community Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Thomas H. Waggener officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge.

A lifelong resident of Lexington, Mrs. Johnson, the former Mary Dalton McBee, was the widow of the late Henry H. Johnson, a highly respected Lexington attorney, who preceded her in death April 21, 1957. Her parents were the late Mr. John Harbour McBee and Alice Cunliffe McBee, a prominent Holmes County family. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. W.E. Thurmond, Sr. of Lexington, Mrs. Robert Cockroft of McKenzie, Tenn., and Mrs. Richard W. Aiken of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. John Beal of Starkville and Mrs. James Wilburn of Lexington; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were W.E. Thurmond, Jr., Michael Chaney, Bill Jones, Richard Aiken, Jr., Henry Aiken and R. W. Aiken.
