Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Reese

Mary Elizabeth Thurmond Reese, 80, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at West Meade Place, Nashville, Tennessee.

She was a retired school teacher, a resident of Park Manor Retirement Center, and a member of Woodmont Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father Walton Wade Thurmond, mother Bessie Maddox Thurmond, husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Emmett C. Reese and brother, W. E. (Wet) Thurmond.

Mrs. Reese was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Charter member of Epsalon Sigma Alpha (ESA) and was always active in WMU and Baptist Sunday School classes.

She is survived by her daughter, B. Gail Reese of Nashville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 30 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Officiating was Dr. Michael O'Brien. Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Nelson Ware, Phil Cohen, Jeffie Alford, Clay Rodgers, Joe Smith, and James Carroll.

It was her request that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, 1608 Woodmont Blvd., Nashville, Tennessee 37215 or French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.
