Thomas Lawrence Mayo
Funeral services for Thomas Lawrence Mayo of Lexington were held Friday, January 1 at 10:00 a.m. from Southern Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mike OBrien officiated, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Williamson.
Mr. Mayo, 76, died on Thursday, December 31, 1987 at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington. A native of Prentiss County, he was born August 7, 1911 at Booneville.
He was a retired grocery merchant in Lexington and for a number of years operated a rolling store throughout the county. He was a veteran of World War II; an active member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, where he was a member of the choir for approximately 50 years; he was a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class.
Mr. Mayo is survived by a brother, Leige Mayo of St. Petersburg, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Calvin Moore, Dennis Steen, Virgil King III, Jack Farmer, Mack Grantham and Floyd Malone. Honorary pallbearers were men of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class.
Mr. Mayo had requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Organ Fund.
