Obituary
Robert N. (Bob) McLellan
Funeral services for Robert N. (Bob) McLellan, 69, of Lexington were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Officiating ministers were Rev. Howard Allen and Rev. Dale Van Ness. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. McLelIan died of a brain tumor on Tuesday, February 23 at his home in Lexington.
Mr. McLellan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon since 1964, elder since 1991 and treasurer from 1955-1992. He was instrumental in the construction of the Howard Allen Education Building. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy as a gunner. He was in the oil and gas business for thirty years, the last fifteen as a Gulf Oil Jobber. He had been an active member of the Lions and Rotary Clubs. After retirement in 1988 he enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean Strider McLellan of Lexington; daughters, Lanelle Fincher of Madison, Robin McCrory of Chester, Virginia and Lydia McLellan of Memphis, Tennessee; brother, W. R. (Bill) McLellan of Lexington; sister, Elaine Ellington of Ridgeland; and four grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Charles Carson, Lewis Garrison, Lynn Harkness, Mike Lammons, Lewis Dickerson, Frank Hughes, Sam Bass, and A. J. Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were: Wayne Rhea, Jack Yates, Kim Kimbrough, John Kimbrough, Dr. Charles Campbell, Gene Austin, Lewis Lipsey; and deacons, Paul Padgett, Wirt Hayes, Max Yates, Gilliam Gwin, John Edgar Hays, Dane Austin, Ted Batson, H. H. Neil and Johnny Word.
