Mrs. John R. Miles Succumbs March 13
Mrs. Agnes Donelson Miles, wife of the late John R. Miles, died Saturday morning, March 13th. She was born December 27, 1867, in Holmes County, near Lexington, the daughter of William Alexander Donelson and Laura Beatty Donelson. Shortly after her marriage in 1874, she and her husband built their home one mile south of Lexington where she resided until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and devoted much of her time to the Missionary Society.
The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, March 14th, at 3 o'clock, conducted by her Pastor, the Rev. A. V. Brown. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The pall bearers were: Ben S. Beall, Leslie P. Johnson, Dr. O. D. Hooker, J. G. Herbert, Sr., J. Lon McRae, W. H. Fincher, W. P. Hammett, and J. W. Latham. She left the following children: John R. Miles and G. Wyatt Miles, of Duncan, Miss.; Lt. David B. Miles, of Lexington and Camp Forrest, Tenn.; Mrs. Marvin Stanley, Mrs. Joe H. Moore, and Miss Marguerite Miles, of Lexington; two grandchildren, Lt. Marvin M. Stanley, of Lexington, and Marianna, Florida; Joe Miles Moore, of Lexington; and one sister. Miss Mary Adelaide Donelson, of Lexington.
