James Elroy Kitchens
Mr. James Elroy Kitchens, Sr., 85, of Byram, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Affairs Hospital in Jackson. He was born January 12, 1931 in Lexington to Carol Benjamin and Mercy Carpenter Kitchens. He retired after working for the City of Jackson for 25 years. He was a member of Queen Lane Baptist Church in Jackson and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Funeral services will held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Jewel Fancher Kitchens; two daughters, Debbie Philley and her husband, Ronnie of Grenada and Sherry Vining and her husband, Jerry of Southaven; one son, James E. Kitchens, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Byram; two sisters, Luceille Lacy of Tupelo and Carolyn Roberts of Moorhead; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carol Benjamin Kitchens, Jr.
