Obituary

NELL TANNER SULLIVAN

Mrs. Nell Tanner Sullivan, 93, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at her home in Lexington.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Rev. Dale VanNess officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington handling arrangements.

A native of Nettleton, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Leila Cother Tanner of Starkville.

She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics; and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee.

She taught Home Economics at East Central Junior College before moving to Lexington. She worked for and retired from the Holmes County Welfare Department. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lexington.

Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. (Polie) Sullivan, who served as County Agent for Holmes County.

Survivors include, a daughter, Sue Sullivan Twilley of Urbandale, Iowa; a son, Walter R. Sullivan, Jr. of Danville, Virginia; one grandson, one granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Ellen Cosby of Jackson, Virginia Witte of Leland, and Imogene Wynne of Merigold.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Lexington, Mississippi 39095.
