Octavia Dyer Broad
Octavia Dyer Broad, 84, of Jackson died Tuesday, March 12, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee after a long illness. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m.at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson. Burial was private with Roesch Patton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born in Lexington in 1912, Mrs. Broad was the daughter of Anita Watson and William Lansdale Dyer who served as Mayor of Lexington and was a State Senator. A graduate of Belhaven College, Mrs. Broad had lived in Jackson most of her adult life and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Charles Manton Broad, retired vice president of Mississippi Valley Gas Company.
Survivors include: daughters, Anne Broad Stevenson of Nashville, Tennessee and Octavia Dyer Broad of Jackson; son, Charles Manton Broad, Jr. of Jackson; sister, Nettie Dyer Ramsey of Laurel; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in care of Public Affairs, 1500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
