Obituary 

Glenna Jean Powell Olinger

Glenna Jean Powell Olinger, 83, of Jackson, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 5th, 2023.

Jean, as she was known by her friends and family, was a former resident of Lexington, MS, a graduate of Tchula High School, and had attended Belhaven University.

She was also a member of Park Place Baptist Church of Pearl, MS.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Edward and Flora Gladys Hoke Powell.

Jean is survived by her son Edwin and Toni Yates of Brandon, MS; daughter Regina and Greg "Bubba" Simmons of Florence, MS; and her sister Gloria Powell Myers of Ponte Verdar Beach, FL.

She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 2 nieces.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington and a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
