Obituary

PFC Paul McDaniel
Killed In Action

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McDaniel have been notified by the War Department that their son, Pfc. Paul M. McDaniel died from wounds received on June 15th in the invasion of Saipan.

Paul volunteered in the service of his country December 28, 1943. He received his basic training at the Marine Base in San Diego, California. While receiving his training he was awarded several medals for expert marksmanship. He was sent into the South Pacific in April of this year and served as gunner on a tank.

Paul spent practically all of his life in Lexington, graduating from high school in 1943. He was one of the most popular students to ever finish school in Lexington. In his Junior year, he was elected by the Rotary Club to represent them at Boy's State. In his Senior year, he was awarded the Rotary Medal. Paul was a Boy Scout from the time he reached the age.

The First Baptist Church of which Paul was a faithful member feels that it has lost one of its most consecrated young men. On the last Sunday before Paul left for service, he was present in our church. His pastor, the Rev. Homer W. Roberson bade him goodbye and God speed in behalf of the church.

Paul Is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McDaniel, and one sister. Miss Edith McDaniel, and a great host of relatives. Memorial Service will be held Sunday evening at 8 o’clock at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. The Rev. Homer W, Roberson will be in charge.
