Biographical Information
Daniel Gilbert Pepper
He was born on the Shotwell Plantation, near Tchula, MS. Attended Christian Bros. College in Memphis and the U. S. Naval Academy. Was in the U. S. Navy, Miss Nat'l Guard, and served as a Captain in the U. S. Army during WWI. He was an electrical engineer who specialized in Municipal Power Systems. He installed the system in Sikeston, Missouri, and was its superintendent. He installed the system at Paragould, Arkansas, and was its superintendent until his death. He was married to Halle Kate Gibson of Franklin, MS, daughter of Davis Gibson, and niece of Governor Edmund Noel. They had five children: May Emily Pepper, Daniel Gilbert Pepper, Jr., Blanche S. Pepper Vandergrift, Louis Daniel Pepper and Robert Gibson Pepper.
