Peyton A. Jones, 77, died Thursday at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital where he had been a patient for a day.

Funeral services were held June 27 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Thomas Waggener officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Jones was a native of Holmes County, the son of Peyton Tabb Jones and Birdie Abbott Jones. He was a retired planter and a communicant of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ercelle Jones of Greenwood; a half-sister, Mrs. Frances Bassett of Laurel and a half-brother, Traver Gearhart of Rogers, Ark.

Pallbearers were E. E. Shaw, Glenn Brock, G.W. Ellison, Fletcher Clark, H. V. Brock, T. E. Powell, Ned Parrish and John Kimbrough.
