Services for Mrs. Powers

Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Moore Powers were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, from the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend J.S. Hathorn, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs Powers died at 10:30 at her home in Franklin following a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Jed Melvin Powers, a widely known planter and landowner.
Mrs. Powers was the daughter of the late Josephus and Betty Herbert Moore. She was a native of Holmes County and had lived in Lexington and Franklin all her life. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Watson of Lexington; a grandson, Julian B. Watson, Jr., of Jackson and one sister, Mrs. Effie Swittenberg of Lubbock, Texas.
Pallbearers were Walter Moore, John J. Parrish, Buddy Parrish, Lynn Jordan, Billy Ellis and Al Povall.
