Reo Sanders Richmond
Reo Sanders Richmond, 83, of Lexington, a former educator and rural mail carrier, died December 8, 2001 of congestive heart failure.
Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Lexington at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11. Rev. C. J. Smith and Rev. Bill Garrison officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
After finishing High School at Walnut Grove in Leake County, he attended college at Athens, Alabama, working his way through school as an employee of a hosiery mill there. After serving in the Air Force for three years, he attended Mississippi Southern College earning a master's degree in School Administration.
He taught math and commercial work before he came to Holmes County in 1954 as Principal of Coxburg School.
After 15 years in the education field, he became a rural mail carrier out of the Lexington Post Office from which he retired in 1985.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife: Ruth Fletcher Richmond of Lexington; two sons, Clarence Floyd Richmond of Spring City, Pennsylvania and Thomas Alan Richmond of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Johnny Allen, Mac Wigley, Melton Fletcher, John Willie O'Kelly, Allan King and Robbie Garver.
