Robert Oneal Duke Rites Held Monday
Prominent Lexington
Man Died Sunday


Funeral services for Mr. Robert Oneal Duke, 79, who died Sunday afternoon at 4:45, were held on Monday at 4:00 from the Methodist Church with the Rev. H. N. McKibben, assisted by the Rev. Hannon L. Smith officiating. Masonic rites were observed at the graveside. Interment was in the Lexington cemetery with Southern in charge.

Mr. Duke was born March 20, 1874 at Chesterville, the son of the late Luther and Betty Roberta Duke. He had made his home in Lexington for the past thirty-two years, where he had farming interests and operated a gin.

He was a member of the Egypt Methodist Church, a past Master of the Masonic Lodge, past high priest of the same lodge, and a Woodman of the World.

Survivors are his wife: one son, M/Sgt. Robert L. Duke of Keesler Field, Biloxi; two daughters, Mrs. J. D. Parish, Lexington and Dr. Helen Siegrest of Ellisville; two brothers, Hunter Duke of Algoma and Luther Duke of Warren, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Ben Price of Algoma.

Active pallbearers were W. H. Fincher, Jr., W. R. McLellan, M. E. Holloman, Perry Strickland, W. R. Ellis, Jr., Dan Pepper, Joe Evans and M. K. Ginn.

Honorary pallbearers were his friends.
