Samuel Sample, Jr.
Samuel "Sam" Edmond Sample, Jr., 66, of Pickens died Sunday, June 8 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Lexington on Tuesday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. Father Daniel Nowak officiated with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Sample was a retired employee of Southern Natural Gas Co. He was a veteran of World War II, and the holder of a Purple Heart. He was also honorary life member of Mississippi Numismatic Association and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Lexington.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Jane Dickinson Sample of Pickens; two sons, Kim Sample of Lexington and Sam Sample of Pickens; daughters, Susan Shelander of Houston, Texas, Melinda Knecht and Jennifer Kareivis of Dallas, Texas, Priscilla Coyle of Woodridge, Virginia, and Pamela Sample of Hattiesburg; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Mosby of Dallas, Texas and 10 grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were: Billy Ellis, B.W. Humphrey, B. B. Bridgeforth, Wilburn White, Tony Mansoor, Early Lucas, Homer Daniel and Dick McCall.
Honorary pallbearers were: John St.Clair, Joe Dan Patton, Harris Humphrey, T. E. Haffey, Ezra OReilly, Pat Haffey, J. L. Golden, Aubrey Thomas, and Dr. C. E.
