ELLEN APPLEBAUM SCHUR
Funeral service for Mrs. Ellen Applebaum Schur, 83, or Lexington were held today (Thursday) January 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Southern Funeral home Chapel in Lexington. Officiating was Rabbi Jim Egolf. Burial was in Beth El Cemetery in Lexington.
Mrs. Schur died Sunday, January 18 of cancer at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.
A native of Yazoo County, she was retired as owner-operator of Schur's Department Store in Lexington. She was a member of the Julia Lewis Sisterhood and Temple Beth El in Lexington.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Nathan Schur.
Survivors include: sons, Morris Schur of Surprise, Arizona, and Edward Schur of Lexington; daughter, Elaine Rich of North Fork, Nebraska; brother, Harry Applebaum of Long Beach, California; sister, Mildred Galfam or Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Harry Kaplan, Phil Cohen, Greg Wiltshire, Bruce Hill, Henry Paris, and Samuel Cohen.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes and Cancer Societies.
