Funeral Services Held Sunday For Nathan Schur
Nathan Teddy Schur, 77, a long time merchant of Lexington died Thursday, November 2 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 5 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Rabbi Allen Schwartzman officiating. Interment was at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Schur operated a department store in Lexington since 1922. He was a Mason, member of the Lexington Lions Club, and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Schur had been a resident of Lexington for 45 years and an active member of Temple Beth El in Lexington.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Ellen Applebaum Schur of Lexington; two sons,
Edward Schur of Lexington and Major Morris Schur of Montgomery, Alabama; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Rich of Norfolk, Nebraska; a brother, Hymon Schur of St. Petersburg, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Marvin Ethel Pelts of Clearwater, Florida; and 5 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harry Kaplan, Joe Stern, Phil Cohen, Herbert Hyman, Wilson Tingle and Mike Lammons. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Ellis.
