William Cooper Smith
William Cooper Smith, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Infinity Hospice in Meridian, MS. Visitation will be today at Southern Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm graveside service with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Southern Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
Billy Cooper was born in Lexington on December 24, 1927 to William Cris Smith and Theresa Foose Smith. He retired in 1985 after 38 years of service with South Central Bell. He was a graduate of Tchula High School and a Marine Corps veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Louise Smith Stanton.
He is survived by his nieces, Chris Stanton Lauderdale (Jim) of Meridian and Dr. Marsha Stanton of University City, MO; great-nephews, J. Lauderdale of Orange Beach, AL and Stanton Lauderdale of Tuscaloosa, AL; and special life-long friends, the Parrish family of Acona, MS.
