Obituary

Joseph Stern Obituary

Joseph Irving Stern, 86, died at his residence on Saturday, February 14, 2009. He was born in Greenwood, MS in 1922 and lived his high school years in Memphis, TN and returned to Lexington, MS after World War II.

He owned a grocery store in Lexington for over 50 years. His family was very important to him and was the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of over 62 years; his daughters, Amy Friedlander (Jack), Susan Hart (Macy) and Nancy Eberstein (Ike); along with seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Temple Beth El, - 224 Court Square, Lexington, MS 39095 or the Institute of Southern Jewish Life, P.O. Box 16528, Jackson, MS 39236.

Funeral service will be held at Temple Beth El in Lexington, MS on Monday, February 16, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. Southern Funeral Home of Lexington, MS are in charge of arrangements.
