Obituary John C. Swinney
John C. “Johnny” Swinney, 71, of Lexington died of a heart attack on Sunday, March 24, at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Officiating were Dr. Mike O’Brien and Rev. Bill Garrison. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

A native of Holmes County, he was owner of Johnny’s Welding Shop in Lexington. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Oregon Memorial Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Bennett Swinney of Lexington; sisters, Zera S. Barton of Lexington and Class Bell Bennett of Hemit, California.

Serving as active pallbearers were Mack Grantham, Steve Upchurch, Jimmy Dale Thomas, Bill Swinney, Bobby Swinney and Tommy Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Diggs, Donald Parrish, Dr. Charles Campbell, Bill Warrington, Samuel Hearn, Jr., Harvey Hearn, Thomas Powell, W. L. Devine, Sr. and Walt Diggs.
