Col. Richard Temple Col. Richard Robert Temple, 87, of Lexington, MS, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Richard Temple was born to George and Lee Temple on January 10, 1922, in Moline, IL.
He served a long and distinguished thirty-three year career in the U.S. Air Force, and retired at the rank of Colonel. His devotion and love for church, aviation, golf, painting, friends, and family was only equal to the love that everyone had and will always have for him. He never met a stranger, and his friendship had no bounds or cost. He will be deeply missed by all of God's children. We can only thank God for letting him be part of our lives.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Malissa King Temple; daughters, Sandra and husband, Larry Hubbard of Arlington,TX and Linda and husband, John Vick of Pensacola,FL; sister, Shirley Franca of Avon Park, FL; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington, MS at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., with interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. There will be food following the graveside services at the First United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be John Vick, Lanny Hubbard, Kevin Jones, Chris Hubbard, Jack Vick,Tim Vick and Phil Cohen. Honorary pallbearers are members of the John Stevens Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First United Methodist Church or charity of your choice.
