Obituary
Catherine Valentine

Godly and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who had a true servant's heart and glorified God in all she did, said, and thought.

Catherine Valentine, 90, of Lexington died on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Lexington Manor Nursing Home in Lexington.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. John McKenzie officiated and Southern Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Brian Hayes, Kevin Hayes, Patrick Dover, Adam Dover, Eric Dover, William McKinley, and Steven Dempsey.

Mrs. Valentine was born on November 13, 1917, to Edgar Brandon and Ruth Clothier Brandon in Porterville, CA. She was a teacher and member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. She graduated from Union High in Porterville, CA with top honors in 1935 and from the University of California in 1939. She received her masters in 1940.

Mrs. Valentine was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ruth Brandon, a brother, Orville Brandon, sister, Edna Bright, and a great grandchild, Brandon McKinley.

Survivors include: husband, Rev. Robert Valentine of Lexington; son, Paul (Georgianna) Valentine of Carbondale, Colorado; daughters, Mary (John) Snider of Lilburn, Georgia, and Lois (Wirt) Hayes of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Downer, the employees of Lexington Manor and Hospice In His Hand for their loving care, and the many friends that have prayed faithfully for her.
