LEXINGTON - Services for Virgie Jordan Hammett, 87, of Lexington, who died of congestive heart failure Thursday, July 28, 2005, at University Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lexington.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Harold Dodd Hammett, Richard Hammett and Robert Hammett, all of Lexington; eight daughters, Ruth Murtagh of Pickens, Elizabeth "Libby" Dittmar of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Flossie Goode of Ridgeland, Brenda Adams and Dell Tubbs, both of Brandon, Sheila Hammett and Tammy Courts, both of Lexington, and Notie Turner of Money; two sisters, Dell Moses of Lexington and Marvalene Killebrew of Dallas, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The Rev. Doug Lawson and the Rev. David Upshaw will officiate at the services.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services Saturday at Southern Funeral Home.
