Funeral services for W. R. (Bill) McLellan, 74, of Lexington, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 3 at Southern Funeral home Chapel in Lexington. Officiating ministers were Dr. Mike O'Brien, assisted by Rev. Lee Jesse Johnson. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. McLellan died of heart failure at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington on Saturday, January 1.
A native of Holmes County, he was born in the Bowling Green Community. He was a Gulf Oil Dealer from 1949-1954. He started in the auto business in 1955 as a salesman for Weathersby Chevrolet Co. and was owner of Moses Ford Co. from 1969 until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, a member of the Lexington Lions Club and the Lexington Rotary Club, and was a Mason.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Lee Harthcock McLellan of Lexington: son, W. R. (Billy) McLellan, Jr. of Lexington; and a sister, Elaine Ellington of Ridgeland.
Active pallbearers were Norman Weathersby, Jr., Mack Grantham, Billy Zeigler, D. L, Harkness, Harold Hammett, Jr., Shade Bethany, David Dillon and Charles Carson.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Campbell, Doty Porter, Dan Pepper, Allan Murtagh, Fred Dunn, Tandy Stepp, Joe Stern, Leland Johnson, Eugene Ware, Vernon Hathcock, Mike Lammons, Frank Hughes, and members of the Nathan Aldridge Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Lexington.
