Miss John Ada Walton was a beloved Pickens teacher. She was born and reared at Acona, near Lexington and came to Pickens in 1925 as primary teacher and taught in the public school until her retirement in 1963. Following her retirement, she, with the assistance of Miss Emma Jean Walton, taught a private kindergarten in her home until 1973. She was a member of the Pickens Methodist Church.
Miss Walton had one sister, Mrs. Ruth Cade of Lexington; three nephews, Mr. Edwin D. Walton of Jackson, John Allen Cade of Live Oak, Fla. and James H. Cade of Louisville: one niece, Mrs. W.H. Vaughan of Jackson; five great nieces and 5 great nephews; and a cousin Miss Emma Jean Walton, who made her home with Miss Walton in Pickens.
