W. W. Thurmond Rites
Held On Wednesday
Funeral services for Walton Wade Thurmond were held at the family residence in Lexington Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock. The Rev. Homer Roberson officiated, assisted by the Rev. A. Y. Brown.
Mr. Thurmond passed away Tuesday afternoon about one-thirty o'clock following a sudden heart attack the night before. His death came as a great shock to his family and a wide circle of friends.
Born and reared in Holmes County in the Acona neighborhood. Mr. Thurmond had long been prominent in business and civic affairs of Lexington and the county. He was highly esteemed and respected where he was known.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Bessie Maddox Thurmond, and two children, Miss Mary Elizabeth Thurmond, of Meridian, and W. E. Thurmond, Lexington.
Interment was in Odd Fellows cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe H. Moore, L. P. Johnson, M. G. Carton, D. T Ruff, H. H. Johnson, Jesse B. Walton, Lute S. Ellison and Jesse H. Walton.
