Melvin S. Wells
Melvin S. Wells, 92, of Lexington died of cancer on Sunday, March 10 at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Rev. Mike O’Brien officiated. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Wells was a Kemper County native and had made his home in Lexington for many years. He was a retired clerk at Peoples Drug Store and a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Kersh Wells of Lexington; five nieces and one nephew.
Active pallbearers were Fred Powers, Ernest Lee Ingold, Mack Grantham, Roy Gelston, Mike Lammons and Leo Alderman. Honorary pallbearer was Dr. Charles Campbell.
