Obituary
William "Billy" Alexander Rathell
William "Billy" Alexander Rathell 82, of Lexington died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at University Medical Center in Jackson. Services were Monday, April 28 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Bro. Matt Brady officiated.

Mr. Rathell was the son of the late William Arthur Rathell and Zenith Swinney. He served as Fire Chief for the City of Lexington for 41 years before his retirement. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. His wife, Ouida Barnett Rathell, preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Debra Cain of Durant; one sister, Rebecca Rathell of Lexington; two brothers, Ben Rathell of Natchitoches, Louisiana and James A. Rathell of Mena, Arkansas and two grandsons.

Active pallbearers were: Danny Barnett, Johnathan Sheppard, Jason Dew, Jimmy Dale Thomas, Paul Hager, and Claude "Bubber" Carnathan.

Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Charles Campbell, Billy Zeigler, Mack Grantham, Mike Lammons, John Rayford Ellison, Sam Reynolds, and D.A. "Mac" McCrory.
