Obituary
William Young Passes Tuesday: Rites Held Friday

William D. Young, salesman for the Freidman Steel Company of Greenville, died suddenly at his home Tuesday morning around 9:30. He was 47.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 Friday at the Methodist Church. Rev. Crawford Ray officiated, assisted by the Rev. D.L. Floyd from Bamberg, S.C. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr Young was born and reared in Bamberg, South Carolina. He had been a resident of Lexington since 1946. He had been a salesman for the Freidman Steel Company in Greenville since last March. Prior to that he was a salesman for the O'Neal Steel Comapany in Jackson and Birmingham. He was with the Marines for eight years and served in the Pacific area during World War Two and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Marie Heinemann Young of Lexington; a son, Timothy R. Young of St. Louis; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Varn and his stepfather, Miles Varn, both of Bamberg. S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Bertie Sandifer of Bamberg; Mrs. Mary Black and Mrs. Margaret Varn of Charleston, S.C.

Pallbearers were Bob Tidwell, Pepper Tidwell, W.W. Holder, Buford Holder, John Wynn, and White Malone.

Honorary pallbearers were L.R. Shipp, George Gelston, William Freidmann, William Gotcher, Sr., and Kelly Criscoe.
