Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Mike O'Brien and Rev. Wes Bonner officiating. Moselle Heffner Zimmer was born September 27, 1909 in Holmes County. She was the second of 3 daughters born to Albert Sidney Heffner and Beulah McLellan Heffner. The family lived in the Bowling Green community of Holmes County until 1923 when they moved to Lexington.

After graduating from Blue Mountain College, Moselle became a teacher and she taught at Drew and Vicksburg, MS and at Oak Ridge, TN.

In 1936, she married Frank Marx and they lived in Vicksburg. Frank died in 1951 and Moselle married Edward S. Zimmer in 1961. Edward died in 1970 and she continued to live in Vicksburg until 1993, when she moved back to her childhood hometown of Lexington.

For several years, Moselle was an employee of the Waterways Experiment Station, but her real love was teaching and she, as late as last Christmas, was still hearing from former students, thanking her for teaching them to appreciate the value of education.
