Obituary
Richard C. Moore

Richard Curtis Moore, 94, of Cleveland died June 21 at Bolivar County Hospital. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday from First United Methodist Church in Lexington with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Fulton, he was a retired rural letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army in France. A graduate of Mississippi Southern College, now the University of Southern Mississippi, he was a teacher in Itawamba, Lamar and Holmes Counties.

Mr. Moore was a Sunday school superintendent at Acona Methodist Church and at Lexington Methodist Church for 29 years, as well as being a lay speaker for the Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Lexington Methodist Men’s Club. He and his wife — Lota Lee McRae Moore, who preceded him in death in 1980 — moved to Cleveland in 1973.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Brady (Rosalie) Cole of Boyle; son, Richard Curtis Moore, Jr. of Boyle; sisters, Mrs. Vela Gray of Tupelo and Mrs. Doyle Brown of Fulton; brother, Lloyd C. Moore of Fulton; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
